Bless This Mess is a fine sequel to By Divine Right's unforgettable first album, All Hail Discordia -- it's power pop that revels in its own simplistic joy. Jose Contreras voices some intimate fears to juxtapose his starry-eyed idealism, which gives the band's music more emotional depth. A mostly solid album, Bless This Mess doesn't have quite the same sparkle as Discordia, but it comes very close. Bless This Mess is still light years away from mainstream radio drivel, especially on tracks like "Twisted Crystalline," "Shine So Shine," "Come for a Ride," and the Super Friendz-ish "Not the Only One."
